Thor Sigfusson, CEO of the Iceland Ocean Cluster is currently visiting Portland, Maine from where he will make his way to the Boston Seafood Expo, to introduce the Iceland Ocean Cluster initiative, innovation in fisheries and how to increase the value that can be created out of fish stocks. Thor will, among other things, be presenting to US seafood firms in Maine as well as the National Seafood Marketing Coalition, in Boston.
“The US fisheries sector, just like many other fisheries sectors, is looking to Iceland’s experience in increasing value creation and byproduct utilization” says Thor and points out that Icelanders are increasingly exporting fisheries knowledge to other nations, which have turned their focus to increasing the utilization of current fish stocks. “We sense a strong interest among the nations around us to cooperate in these areas” says Thor.
