The Iceland Ocean Cluster is pleased to announce a new collaboration which has been signed today with Geo Salmo, Iceland (GeoSalmo – Land-based farming of salmon – GeoSalmo) by CEO Jens Þórðarson and Thor Sigfusson the founder of the Iceland Ocean Cluster.
Geo Salmo is a new sustainable land-based salmon farm located in the South of Iceland which will use 100% renewable energy for its operations.
Aquaculture is a growing sector internationally and in Iceland and there is now a huge opportunity to apply the lessons learned already in the 100% fish experience in Iceland. This collaboration is a great step in working towards full utilisation of products and co-products from land-based salmon aquaculture and very welcome news for the Icelandic innovation sector.
