Recently, the New Zealand Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, David Parker visited the Iceland Ocean Cluster. We were amazed by his knowledge and enthusiasm. We learned afterward that he was involved in numerous breakthrough biotechnology export start-ups in New Zealand. It is advantageous to have an Ocean minister with such amazing abilities.
The minister was particularly interested in automation in fish processing and full utilization of ocean resources and wanted to learn from the Icelandic expertise in this field.
During the visit, the minister and his team visited the fish processing firm Fiskkaup, the 100% fish companies, Nordic Fish Leather and Feel Iceland, as well as the technology and software companies Marel and Vaki.
