Icelandic methods of fully utilizing marine raw material will be presented at European Food Venture Forum in Aarhus, Denmark on September 5-6 and the opportunities other European nations have in fully processing fish rather than discarding a large proportion.
As the Iceland Ocean Cluster has pointed out, up to 500.000 tons of byproducts from cod are discarded each year in the North Atlantic and Barents Sea.The presentation will outline how the Codland cluster intends to maximize the value of each cod brought to shore, transforming parts previously considered waste into valuable products such as oil, fishmeal, dried products, kollagen and more.
Thor Sigfusson who will be presenting Codland says the EFV Forum will provide an opportunity to present the Codland ideology and promote cooperation with Europeans interested in advanced marine processing.” By doing this, we hope to strengthen our cooperation with those interested in the Codland technology, know-how and marketing knowledge related to byproducts of cod” says Thor.
Innovation Center Iceland has assisted Codland in the preparation.
