Solutions that ensure the right conditions for utilization of by-products

One of the most valuable by-products of the Icelandic fishing industry is fish meal, with total export values of the meal in 2022 amounting to 67 billion ISK. Fish meal is primarily used in salmon and animal feed today, but continued product development of this valuable by-product can create significant opportunities for increased value creation. Proper handling of raw materials is a key prerequisite for maximizing the value of by-products. The Ocean Cluster’s Fishery Station, Héðinn, and Marel are looking for forward-thinking, imaginative, and solution-oriented individuals or companies to work on solutions that ensure the right conditions for the utilization of by-products in processing, storage, and composition for both salmon and whitefish.
