The Iceland Ocean Cluster welcomes Benedek Regoczi, who will be joining us for a three-month internship. Benedek is a graduate student at the University Centre of the Westfjords. His undergraduate studies focused on Business Administration and Economics; however, his passion for our oceans directed him to specialize in Coastal and Marine Management, the graduate program, in which he is currently enrolled. Benedek’s expertise lies in natural resource management, innovation management, and marine conservation.
Throughout his undergraduate studies in Sweden to gain practical experience, Benedek started his own company in drone photography. His passion for our oceans and their resources eventually motivated him to specialize in Coastal and Marine Management. While pursuing his master’s degree, Benedek got involved in the “Whales of Ísa” project, where he mapped humpback whale distribution in Ísafjarðardjúp and the spatial overlap with anthropogenic activities. This work deepened his interest in marine conservation and the sustainable use of marine resources.
Benedek pursued this internship to gain further experience in innovation within the marine sector, aligning with his passion for promoting sustainable practices and solutions for ocean management. During his time at the Iceland Ocean Cluster, Benedek will mostly be involved in the Blue Bio Clusters EU Horizon project as well as the 100% Shrimp project funded by Nordic Innovation.
