As the demand for ocean space increases, it is clear that governments need to prioritize and establish policies regarding the allocation of maritime areas. Could multi-use spaces in the Icelandic exclusive economic zone provide an opportunity for more efficient operations and increased food and energy production? It is imperative for the government to scrutinize the best methods for utilizing ocean spaces and proactively prepare for increasing demands for maritime areas.
On the 5th and 6th of October the Iceland Ocean Cluster will host a hackathon with the goal of developing effective and enviromentally sustainable ways to share ocean space. The event will be open to the public from 17 to 20 on the 6th of October where contestants will share their findings.
