We are excited to announce that Clara Jégousse has joined the research and innovation team at the Iceland Ocean Cluster in the role of research specialist.

Clara is originally from France and has a BSc in Chemistry and a MSc in Bioinformatics from the University of Nantes, France.  She spent time as an intern and visiting scholar at Griffith University, Australia in both Eskitis Institute (working on toxins found in marine invertebrates) and the Institute of Glycomics (working on computational design of antibiotics and drug design and bacterial RNA structures).  She moved to Iceland in January 2017 as PhD Candidate studying the marine microbial communities in the waters around Iceland, jointly supervised by The University of Iceland and Matís, ohf. In early 2022 she moved to the UK to work as a bioinformatician.  Clara now brings this wealth of technical and international experience to the Iceland Ocean Cluster and will work alongside Dr. Alexandra Leeper, Head of research and innovation, supporting the IOC team as our project portfolio grows and the 100% fish movement brings great Icelandic innovation in seafood to the global stage.

She can be contacted at clara@sjavarklasinn.is and for more information about the research and innovation team contact alexandra@sjavarklasinn.is.

Welcome to the team Clara!
