This summer, Lulu is joining the Iceland Ocean Cluster and Blue Nova Ventures for a three-month project focused on investment readiness mapping for Blue Economy ventures.

Lulu grew up in Vermont and fell in love with the ocean at Bowdoin College in Maine, where she sailed competitively and studied oceanography and economics, with a particular focus on how rapid warming in the Gulf of Maine is reshaping the state’s fishery-dependent communities. She is now a Master of Environmental Management student at Duke University, specializing in applied marine science and finance, with a focus on mobilizing private capital for climate adaptation in ocean spaces.

Her core interests lie at the intersection of marine food systems and financial innovation, with a focus on how fishing communities can adapt to climate pressures.

At Duke, she co-leads the Oceans@Duke student club and helped organize this year’s Blue Economy Summit on scaling ocean innovation, at which Dr. Alexandra Leeper spoke. This past spring, she interned with a water-focused venture capital firm, Burnt Island Ventures, supporting investor reporting and developing workshop materials for their annual founder forum, an experience that deepened her interest in climate-resilience investing.

In her second year, she will pursue a Master’s Project with Builders Vision to explore financial tools that could incentivize large fish processors to adopt full-utilization practices across their operations.

Outside of work, she loves swimming, sailing, and adventures with friends.
