Last week, our team was kindly invited by North Marine Ingredients to visit their facilities in Akranes and learn about their work and new products. North Marine Ingredients is a biotech company embracing 100% utilisation by using cod side streams to create cold active enzymes. The company has always been in contact with us and it’s truly amazing to see them grow, they are a perfect example of 100% Fish utilisation. The team is bursting with great ideas and it’s exciting to be able to see it.
Their offices are located in Breið nýsköpunarsetur, the innovation centre in Akranes, a place based on collaboration from coworking space to research space as well as FabLab, a workplace available for anyone who needs a space and tools to “bring ideas into reality”.
It is inspiring to see such a wonderful community being built for more than 5 years. Breið is the perfect example of how great ideas can turn into innovation and collaboration in small coastal communities.
