Last month, we had the pleasure of welcoming two students originally from Ukraine that are now studying in Germany: Olena Ostapenko and Sofiia Zhyzhmarova. They are studying in a dual vocational training program, specializing in media design.
Olena: In Ukraine, I graduated from the Kyiv University of Trade and Economics with a degree in Marketing, specializing in Advertising Business. After graduating, I also completed additional training in floristic and worked in the wedding industry, creating and managing wedding projects. As a result, I have always been closely connected to the field of design.
Sofiia: In Ukraine, I studied at a school with a strong focus on mathematics, so I never thought that one day I would want to connect my life with creativity. But I am very happy that it happened.
What was your internship about?
The purpose of our internship was to gain new experience in an international company. During the three weeks, we worked on different design projects using graphic design software. We created a style guide, designed a set of icons, redesigned the Fish Value Machine diagram, produced several videos, and analyzed the company’s website to identify possible improvements and errors. We learned how to design icons and diagrams, edit videos for a cluster, create a style guide, and work together as a team.
What did you enjoy during the internship?
We enjoyed working as part of a team, learning about the fishing industry, and communicating with the company representative.
What do you think of Iceland and the cluster?
We are very impressed with both Iceland and the cluster. We see the cluster as a place where people can develop and implement their ideas. The teamwork, friendly atmosphere, and creative approach are clearly visible. It is a truly inspiring place, and we are very happy that we had the opportunity to complete our internship here.
