This Summer, Genevieve is joining the Iceland Ocean Cluster to undertake a project in which she will be mapping out Greenland’s blue economy. She recently graduated from the Fletcher School at Tufts University with a masters, during which she concentrated on environmental and energy policy and international security. Prior to her graduate studies, she gained experience at the UN in New York, where she fostered her interest in climate change mitigation and adaptation and the intersection of these two topics with national and international security, and at the Pentagon, where she gained insight into collaboration between the government and the private sector to advance the climate goals of the US Department of Defense. She will apply this familiarity to her work as she gains an in-depth understanding of the blue economy space.

With her understanding that sustainable development and climate change mitigation and adaptation are integral in today’s landscape to the food, economic, energy, national, and international security, she aims to apply her understanding of Greenland’s blue economy to these areas to help strengthen these areas for Greenland and its citizens, while providing the Iceland Ocean Cluster with information to inform its investment decisions.
