The Iceland Ocean Cluster team recently joined a series of blue economy discussions in New York, connecting with investors, founders, and innovation leaders from around the world.

At the famous Explorers Club, IOC founder Dr. Þór Sigfússon delivered a memorable talk on the 100% Fish philosophy; a reminder that nothing in the fish should go to waste. One of the slides, designed by the Milk and Kleina team, featured a humorous twist: well-known American celebrities “endorsing” products made from salmon sperm. The playful image sparked laughter but also serious interest in Iceland’s approach to full resource utilisation and sustainable seafood innovation.
As Kristinn Þór Sigurðsson, General Partner at Blue Nova Ventures noted, the conversations in New York underscored a growing momentum: for more than a decade, the Iceland Ocean Cluster has been a magnet for top founders in the blue economy, and the opportunities today are greater than ever.
From Reykjavík to New York, Iceland continues to demonstrate how creativity, sustainability, and collaboration can make waves in the global ocean economy.
