In its three years of transformative work from 2022 to 2025, BlueBioClusters project fostered sustainability, innovation, and economic resilience in coastal regions throughout Europe. The Iceland Ocean Cluster was a proud partner in this Horizon Europe initiative, joining regional clusters across Belgium, Estonia, France, Lithuania, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, and Sweden. Together, we provided tools for businesses and regions to assess their contributions to ecosystem services, delivered tailored mentoring to blue bio companies, and developed regional blue visions through vibrant communities of practice. Our overarching goal was to establish self-sustaining circular blue bioeconomy ecosystems that empower coastal stakeholders to turn biological side-streams into high-value products, strengthen local economies, and safeguard marine and coastal biodiversity.
